LABRADOR RETRIEVER
ORIGEN: Gran Bretaña
UTILIZACIÓN: Perro Cobrador de caza - Perro de compañía
ASPECTO GENERAL: Perro de contextura fuerte, región renal corta y muy activo, tiene un cráneo amplio, pecho y costillas amplias y profundas; la región renal y los miembros posteriores son anchos y fuertes.
CARACTERÍSTICAS: Perro que tiene buen temperamento y es muy ágil. Posee un excelente olfato y un hocico delicado con boca suave; es muy aficionado al agua. Es un animal adaptable, fiel y devoto compañero.
TEMPERAMENTO: Inteligente, vivaz y dócil, con fuerte voluntad para complacer. De carácter afable, sin ninguna signo de agresividad o timidez impropias de la raza.
CABEZA Y CRANEO: Cráneo amplio con una depresión fronto-nasal (stop) bien definido, nítido sin presentar pómulos regordetes. Maxilares de una longitud mediana, poderosos pero no afilados, hocico ancho, nariz amplia con fosas nasales bien desarrolladas.
OJOS: De tamaño mediano que expresen inteligencia y buen temperamento; de color negro o castaño.
OREJAS: Orejas ni largas ni pesadas; deben colgar pegadas a la cabeza y tener una inserción ligeramente hacia atrás.
BOCA: Maxilares y dientes fuertes, con dentadura sana, completa, y mordida en tijera, es decir que la cara interna de los incisivos superiores esté en contacto con la cara externa de los incisivos inferiores, y bien colocados en los maxilares.
CUELLO: Nítido, fuerte y poderoso, insertado sobre hombros bien colocados.
EXTREMIDADES ANTERIORES: Las escápulas largas e inclinadas. Las extremidades de buen hueso y, vistas de frente o de lado, deben aparecer rectas desde los codos hasta el suelo.
CUERPO: Torax de buena amplitud y profundidad, con costillas bien arqueadas y abarriladas. Espalda a nivel; la región renal amplia, corta y fuerte.
EXTREMIDADES POSTERIORES: Bien desarrolladas y sin inclinación hacia la cola; las articulaciones femoro-tibio-rotulianas (rodillas) bien anguladas. Los corvejones descendidos, los corvejones juntos son altamente indeseables.
PIES: Pies redondos, compactos, con dedos bien arqueados y almohadillas plantares bien desarrolladas.
COLA: La cola es una característica distintiva de la raza, muy gruesa en la base afilandose gradualmente hacia la punta; de tamaño mediano y sin flecos, pero debe estar bien cubierta completamente de pelo corto, grueso y denso, que le da la apariencia "redonda" descrita como cola de "Nutria". Puede ser llevada alegremente, pero no enroscada sobre el dorso.
MOVIMIENTO: Movimiento desenvuelto y que cubra suficiente terreno; las extremidades anteriores y posteriores se desplazan en planos paralelos al eje del cuerpo.
PELO: El pelo es una característica distintiva de la raza; debe ser corto y denso sin ondulaciones o flecos; al tacto debe dar la sensación de ser bastante duro. Tiene una capa de subpelo resistente al agua.
COLOR: Totalmente negro, rubio o hígado / chocolate. El color rubio varía desde el crema claro al rojo del zorro. Se permite una pequeña mancha blanca en el pecho.
TALLA: Altura ideal a la cruz: Machos : 56-57 cm. (22-22 1/2 pulgadas).
Hembras : 54-56 cm. (21 1/2 pulgadas).
DEFECTOS: Cualquier desviación de las anteriores características deberá considerarse como un defecto y será penalizado en función de su gravedad.
NOTA: Los ejemplares machos deberán tener dos testículos de apariencia normal, completamente descendidos en el escroto.

 

BRITISCH STANDARD:

GENERAL APPEARANCE:  Strongly built, short-coupled, very active;  broad in skull;  broad and deep through chest and ribs;  broad and strong over loins and hindquarters.

CHARACTERISTICS:  Good-tempered, very agile.  Excellent nose, soft mouth;  keen love of water.  Adaptable devoted companion.

TEMPERAMENT:  Intelligent, keen and biddable, with a strong will to please.  Kindly nature, with no trace of aggression or undue shyness.

HEAD AND SKULL:  Skull broad with defined stop;  clean-cut without fleshy cheeks.  Jaws of medium length, powerful  not snipy.  Nose wide, nostrils well developed.

EYES:  Medium size, expressing intelligence and good temper, brown or hazel.

EARS:  Not large or heavy, hanging close to head and set rather far back.

MOUTH:  Jaws and teeth strong with a perfect, regular and complete scissor bite, i.e. upper teeth closely overlapping lower teeth and set square to the jaws.

NECK:  Clean, strong, powerful, set into well placed shoulders.

FOREQUARTERS:  Shoulders long and sloping.  Forelegs well boned and straight from elbow to ground when viewed from either front or side.

BODY: Chest of good width and depth, with well sprung barrel ribs.  Level top line.  Loins wide, short-coupled and strong.

HINDQUARTERS:  Well developed, not sloping to tail;  well turned stifle.  Hocks well let down, cow hocks highly undesirable.

FEET:  Round, compact;  well arched toes and well developed pads.

TAIL:  Distinctive feature, very thick towards base, gradually tapering towards tip, medium length, free from feathering, but clothed thickly all round with short, thick, dense coat, thus giving 'rounded' appearance described as 'Otter' tail.  May be carried gaily but should not curl over back.

MOVEMENT: Free, covering adequate ground;  straight and true in front and rear.

COAT: Distinctive feature, short-dense without wave or feathering, giving fairly hard feel to the touch;  weather-resistant undercoat.

COLOUR:  Wholly black, yellow or liver/chocolate.  Yellows range from light cream to red fox.  Small white spot on chest permissible.

SIZE:  Ideal height at withers;  dogs 56-57 cms (22-221/2ins);  bitches 54-56 cms (211/2ins).

FAULTS:  Any departure from the foregoing points should be considered a fault and the seriousness with which the fault should be regarded should be in exact proportion to its degree.

NOTE:  Male animals should have two apparently normal testicles fully descended into the scrotum.
